    Fancy fonts for WhatsApp

Turns your text into Unicode letter styles you can paste into your name, bio, status or message. Unlike official formatting, they don’t rely on symbols.

These styles are special Unicode characters, not a WhatsApp feature. Accented letters lose their accents in the math styles, some devices may show boxes instead of letters and screen readers may not read the text. Use them for short headings, never for important information.

How to format text on WhatsApp

Three steps from plain text to a message that’s easy to read.

      Type or paste your text

Use the editor above. It starts with a sample so you can see each format working.

      Apply a format

Select a part and tap bold, italic, strikethrough, monospace, list or quote. The preview shows the result.

      Copy or send

Copy the text with its symbols and paste it into WhatsApp, or use "Send on WhatsApp" to pick a chat.

      When to use each format

Formatting helps when it highlights a little. If everything is bold, nothing stands out.

      Bold for the key point

Use it for the announcement title, the price or the action people need to take.

      Italics for notes

Deadlines, conditions and footnotes stay clear without stealing attention.

      Lists for steps and items

One item per line, starting with "- " or "1. ", makes rules and offers easy to scan.

      Monospace for codes

Coupons, commands and order numbers are easy to copy and check.

      Frequently asked questions

How do I make text bold on WhatsApp?

Put an asterisk before and after the text, with no space between the symbol and the word: *text*. In this page’s editor, select the text and tap B, or press Ctrl+B.

How do I use italic, strikethrough and monospace on WhatsApp?

Italic uses underscores (_text_), strikethrough uses tildes (~text~) and monospace uses three backticks on each side (```text```). The WhatsApp Help Center also lists inline code with one backtick (`text`).

How do I make a list or a quote in a WhatsApp message?

For a bulleted list, start each line with "* " or "- ". For a numbered list, use "1. ", "2. " and so on. For a quote, start the line with "> ".

Can I underline text on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp has no official symbol for underline. The alternative is the "Underline" fancy font style, which uses a combining Unicode character and may not look the same on every device.

Why didn’t bold work in my message?

The most common causes are a space between the asterisk and the word (* text *), a missing asterisk or the symbol stuck to another letter. Check the preview: if the text isn’t bold there, fix the symbols.

Do fancy fonts work in my WhatsApp name and bio?

They are Unicode characters and can be pasted into any text field. Some devices may lack these letters and show boxes. Test first and avoid them for important information, since screen readers may not read them.

Are the texts I write saved?

Only if you tap "Save to history", and even then they stay only in your browser’s local storage. Nothing is sent to any server.
