How to send the same message to multiple WhatsApp groups without getting blocked

Forwarding, broadcast lists, community announcements, channels or a bot: what each option does, the official limits and which one to choose so you stay clear of WhatsApp's spam filters.

Direct answer: To send the same message to several WhatsApp groups, you can forward it to up to 5 chats at a time. If you manage the groups, the approach the Help Center itself recommends is to bring them into a community and post once in the announcements group, which reaches every member. Broadcast lists don't work for groups, only for contacts. For recurring announcements, a bot can post in each group at a scheduled time. Either way, avoid blasting the same message repeatedly: that's the pattern WhatsApp associates with spam.

Ways to send the same message to multiple groups

Numbers checked in the WhatsApp Help Center on October 9, 2026:

OptionReachMain limitBest for
ForwardingUp to 5 chats or groups at a timeA message that was forwarded to you can only go to 1 more groupOne-off sends to a few groups
Broadcast listUp to 256 contacts per list (no groups)Only people who saved your number receive it; in some countries, a monthly limit of 35 messagesIndividual announcements to contacts
Community announcementsEvery member of the community's groupsUp to 100 groups and 2,000 membersAdmins of several groups with the same audience
ChannelNo follower limitOnly admins post; no conversationAnnouncements to a large audience
Group botThe groups the bot is inDepends on your plan and routineRecurring announcements at fixed times

Notice there's no "send to all my groups" button. WhatsApp limits this on purpose, to curb spam and misinformation.

Option 1: forward the message (up to 5 groups at a time)

It's the fastest way for a few groups:

  1. Send the message in the first group.
  2. Tap and hold the message and choose Forward.
  3. Select up to 5 chats or groups and send.

According to the Help Center: about forwarding limits, two rules matter: if the message you want to forward was itself forwarded to you, it can only be shared with one additional group; and when a message goes through a chain of five or more chats, it gets the Forwarded many times label.

Tip: to avoid the forwarded label, write (or paste) the text as a new message in each group instead of forwarding. It looks more natural, and you can adapt it to each audience.

Option 2: broadcast lists (they don't work for groups)

Many people look for broadcast lists thinking they send to groups, but they work with contacts. Each person receives the message in a private chat, as if it were just for them, and replies come back privately too. According to the Help Center:

  • up to 256 contacts per list, and you can create as many lists as you like;
  • only people who saved your number receive it;
  • they aren't supported on WhatsApp Web, Windows or Mac;
  • in some countries there's a monthly limit of 35 free broadcast messages, rolling out gradually.

Use broadcast lists for individual notes. To reach whole groups, the next options work better.

Option 3: community announcements (WhatsApp's recommended route)

If you manage several groups with the same audience (classes in a school, branches of a company, regions of a project), a community solves the problem at the source: you post once in the announcements group and every member receives it. On its About group suspensions page, WhatsApp says that using community announcements instead of sending repeated messages to groups or members may help reduce the risk of being flagged as spam.

The limits, according to the Help Center: up to 100 groups and 2,000 members in total. Communities can't be created in the WhatsApp Business app. See when a community makes sense in community vs. group vs. channel.

Option 4: a channel, when people just need to read

If most people only receive announcements and rarely chat, a channel is simpler: there's no follower limit, only admins post and nobody sees anyone's phone number. You post once and share the channel link in your groups instead of repeating the announcement in each one. The downside is that there's no conversation; keep your groups for that.

Option 5: a bot for recurring announcements across groups

When an announcement repeats (the weekly schedule, daily news, deals, reminders), doing it by hand in each group takes hours. With 9bot, you schedule the message in each group with a date, time and repetition, duplicate the schedule for other groups and reuse templates and settings. For publishers, the RSS and news feature sends new posts to your groups at the times you choose.

Two best practices make a difference:

  • Spread out the timing: instead of posting in every group at the same minute, distribute sends over the period.
  • Adapt the text: a slightly different line for each audience makes the message more relevant and less like a mass blast.

The scheduling step by step is in how to schedule a message in a WhatsApp group.

How to send to multiple groups without getting blocked

WhatsApp uses machine learning to identify accounts engaging in bulk or automated messaging, and groups can be suspended for it. To lower the risk:

  • prefer community announcements over repeated messages in several groups;
  • only send to groups where people expect that content;
  • avoid the same text, with the same link, at the same minute in dozens of groups;
  • watch your content: unknown short links and exaggerated promises draw attention;
  • track exits and reports: if many people leave after an announcement, rethink the frequency.

Editorial best practices (what to publish, how often and in what format) are in the guide on how to send news on WhatsApp without being flagged as spam. If the worst happens, see what to do when a group is suspended.

Can the official WhatsApp API post to many groups?

Meta's official API (Cloud API) is built for business-to-customer conversations. Group support exists, but with its own rules and limits, and it doesn't replace a group-management bot. We explain what it does and doesn't do in the official WhatsApp API for groups.

FAQ

How do I send the same message to multiple WhatsApp groups?
Forward the message to up to 5 groups at a time or, if you manage the groups, bring them into a community and post once in announcements. For recurring messages, use a bot that posts in each group at a scheduled time.
How many groups can I forward a message to at once?
Up to 5 chats or groups at a time. If the message was already forwarded to you, it can only go to one more group.
Can I add groups to a broadcast list?
No. Broadcast lists work with contacts: up to 256 per list, and only people who saved your number receive the message.
Is there a limit on broadcast messages?
In some countries, WhatsApp is gradually rolling out a monthly limit of 35 free broadcast messages. You can check yours in Settings.
Can sending the same message to many groups get my number blocked?
It can raise the risk. WhatsApp detects bulk or automated messaging, and the Help Center recommends community announcements instead of repeated messages.
How is this guide different from the one about sending news without spam?
This guide covers the tools for sending to several groups. The news guide covers the content: what to publish, how often and in what format.
Can the official WhatsApp API send messages to many groups?
It supports groups with its own rules and limits, designed for businesses. To manage and notify your own groups, a group bot is usually simpler.
Do link shorteners increase the risk of a ban?
They hide the destination and can look suspicious to recipients. Prefer a link on your own domain and avoid posting the same link to many groups at once.
